Patrik Berger

Berger began his career playing for Sparta Prague in 1989 before moving to play for rivals, Slavia Prague. He spent a season playing for Borussia Dortmund in Germany before moving to Liverpool in 1996. He is most notable for helping the Czech Republic to the final of Euro 96. He became a permanent fixture in the Liverpool starting line up and appeared for the club in over 200 matches during his seven year spell at the club. Prior the start of the 2003-04 season, Berger moved to Portsmouth and made a huge impact at the club. He scored some crucial and outstanding goals, most notably a 35 yard strike against Manchester United. In the summer of 2006 he transferred to Aston Villa.

 

Steve Stone

Stone began his career playing for Nottingham Forest in 1989, he enjoyed a successful ten year spell at the club, notching up nearly 200 league appearances. During his time with Forest, he earned a call up to the England squad, earning 9 caps in the process, notably playing during England’s successful Euro 96 campaign. In the summer of 1999 he moved on to play for Aston Villa, a club he spent three seasons with. In 2002 he moved on to play for Portsmouth, a club he went on to spend three years with. He helped the club gain promotion to the premiership in time for the 2003-04 season. In total he made over 75 appearances for the club.

Yakubu

Yakubu made a name for himself in Israel, starting off his playing career for Hapoel Kfar Saba, making a real impression during his one year spell at the club. In the year 2000, he moved on to play for Maccabi Haifa, he was prolific in front of goal at the club, scoring 24 goals in only 36 matches. His fantastic strike rate earned him a move to Portsmouth in January 2003, a club he helped promote into the premiership. At Portsmouth he made over 90 appearances and scored 40 goals, once again in prolific form. His great striking talent earned him a move to Middlesbrough for £7.5 million in the summer of 2005. In his debut season at the club he scored an impressive 14 goals.
