Guy Whittingham

Whittingham began his career playing for Portsmouth in 1986 and soon became an instant success at the club. He started off playing behind the main striker and soon later on established himself as an all out forward. He made his mark in the English football league during the 1992-93 season, he was a phenomenon in front of goal, despite playing in every match for Pompey that season, he scored a staggering 42 league goals during the 92-93 season and registered another 6 goals in cup competitions. In total scoring 48 goals, through out the campaign. The 48 goals he scored, was the most any player scored in the football league during one single season over the 90’s, a proud record for any striker to have. His outstanding goal spree earned him a move to Aston Villa the following season. He later on played for Sheffield Wednesday and then Wycombe Wanderers. He never quite regained the magical goal scoring form he showed in the 92-93 campaign. During his time with Portsmouth, he played for the club 173 times, scoring over 100 goals.

 

Kit Symons

Symons began his career playing for Portsmouth in 1988 at the young age of 17 years. He soon became a supporter’s favourite at the club and spent seven blistering years with Pompey, making over 175 appearances and scoring 10 goals. In 1995 he moved on to play for Man City, a club which he spent three years with. He later on had spells playing for Fulham and then Crystal palace. He is currently first team coach at Crystal Palace.

 

Kevin Ball

Ball began his career playing for Portsmouth FC, instantly establishing himself as one of the finest defenders in the game, always committed to the cause. He later on had spells playing for Fulham and Burnley. However it was at Sunderland where he made his mark, in total he played in 389 matches for Sunderland. He acted as the clubs manager during the 2005-06 season.

 

Gary Stevens

Gary was a most versatile player whose career was most unfortunately dogged by injury. He played and scored for Brighton in the FA Cup final of 1983, as the team lost in a replay against Manchester United. After his spell at Brighton he transferred to Tottenham, during his time at the club, he won seven full England caps. He spent the remainder of his career at Portsmouth and he was a fans favourite.
