Mark Hateley
Hateley started his playing career with Coventry City in 1978, spending five years at the club. His finest ever season in English football would have to be regarded as the 1983-84 season, playing for Portsmouth. He was prolific in front of goal, scoring a staggering 25 league goals in only 44 appearances. His outstanding play for the club earned him a lucrative move to Italy to play for AC Milan. He then went on to play in France for Monaco, before moving to Scotland to play for Glasgow Rangers. He is one of England’s greatest ever players to have played all over Europe. Hateley is regarded as one of the most influential players to have played for Glasgow Rangers, he re- signed for the club in 1997, helping them win the title, despite only being at the club for a month.
Neil Webb
Webb started his career off in 979, playing for Reading. In July 1982 he moved on to play for Portsmouth, a club which he played outstandingly well for. After a great period at Portsmouth he moved to Nottingham Forest. He helped Forest win the league cup in the 1989-90 season and played for England during his spell at the club. At the start of the 90-91 season, Webb signed for Manchester united, winning the European Cup winners cup with the club in 1991, before moving back to Nottingham Forest.
Terry Connor
Connor was an all out striker who could spot a goal from a mile away, his career commenced in 1979, while playing for Leeds United. He scored on his debut for Leeds and soon became prolific in front of goal. In the summer of 1982, he moved to Brighton and continued his fine goal scoring form for the Seagull’s, he was their top goal scorer for three consecutive seasons and in the summer of 1985 he moved to Portsmouth and soon became a permanent fixture in the Portsmouth starting |
